Photography by Nick Gaines

Nick Gaines is a photographer with the eye of an artist and the heart of a lover of nature. His booth at Marché Moncton Market is a mini gallery of compelling photos of some of the natural worlds most feared but beautiful animals – namely the black bear and the tiger cat – subjects Nick has sought out at area zoos and ones he has approached with the utmost respect and admiration. Using film as his medium and the camera lens as a tool, Nick captures the quiet majesty of nature in all its magical incarnations. Beautifully matted and framed, his work is a testament to his love of photography and of his ambition to be an artist of worth.
Nick’s early introduction to the art of photography grew out of the influence of his grandfather’s association with Moncton photographer Tom Barnes. With a vision all his own and a drive to succeed, Nick’s contribution to the area’s photographic landscape as an up and coming new artist is undeniable! Visit Nick at the market on Saturdays and take advantage of his expertise in film as a gift for yourself or for family and friends. Want to know more about Nick? Check out his website at http://www.nick-gaines-photography.piczo.com/ or call him at 860-0641 and treat yourself to a work of art from one of our area’s finest young artists!

Wizard World

Adélaine Thomas is the person in whom creative talent, artistry, and a unique imagination combines to give us a doll maker extraordinaire! An occasional vendor at the Marché Moncton Market on Saturdays, she will be a permanent fixture at the market starting in April. It’s certainly worthwhile to drop by and experience her superb handmade, museum quality dolls. They all depict various evanescent creatures from the world of fairies, gnomes, woodland beings, and wizards with faces, hands, and feet moulded from sculpy clay and given expressions of realistic depth and expression with a definitive story to each doll. Dolls’ bodies are soft sculptured in fabric and padding and features a variety of materials such as lovely spangled netting, fur, textured wools, bark and beads all combined to appeal to the eye and to the touch with unusual colour and texture. These dolls are truly a joy to behold.
A retired educator and nurse who hails from Shediac Bridge, NB, Adélaine has honed her craft to a level of excellence that far surpasses the humble hobby it all began with. Now with a life of its own, Adélaine’s doll making has led to lucrative sales both at home and in the U.S. With a delicate grace and ethereal quality, Adélaine even looks like one of her own creations. Visit her booth at the market or contact her at (506) 533-9277, email at adelainethomas@rogers.com, or access her website at http://www.redpathgallery.com/. Willing to share her craft making techniques, Adélaine offers doll making courses as well. In search of the unusual? Charmed by the delightful? Seek out the various worlds from the fertile imagination of Adélaine Thomas and indulge in your own flights of fancy with a doll from the Wizard World!
