Mike's Bike Shop

It’s that time of year again! Mike’s Bike Shop is celebrating the start of bike season with their annual Tent Sale which takes place each June. This year this much anticipated sales event will take place from Thursday, May 31, to Sunday, June 3, at their premises at 343 Champlain Street in Dieppe. Drop in and browse, enjoy a free barbecue with hot dogs and pop, and take advantage of the terrific deals offered on a huge selection of well-known brand name bikes that include Trek and Giant, the number one and number two brands in the world. The biggest bike sales event of the year, "this is the best weekend of the year to buy a bike," says owner Rick Snyder. "We’ve got the best values with further markdowns on existing sales items. We carry a great selection of family-priced bikes and on Saturday, June 2 only, the first 50 customers purchasing a bike will receive $200 worth of bike accessories free! As a specialty shop, our buying power allows us to keep our prices very competitive and at our shop we have something for every budget and requirement. As was say, we cater to everyone from ‘tricycles to triathletes.’" This is sure to be a fun event, rain or shine – bring the whole family!

Mike’s Bike Shop has been a part of the business profile of the City of Dieppe for many years and they will be celebrating a quarter-century in the business in 2008. Today, co-owners Rick Snyder and Jim Goguen, each with over 25 years of experience in the bike industry, are poised to take this thriving business into a promising future with an unbeatable combination of a top quality product, customer service that is second to none, and a complete list of follow-up and sales services that include test drives, no-interest financing, rentals, and quick turn-around times on tune-ups.

This year, Mike’s Bike Shop has launched a huge initiative with an emphasis on education. The twofold approach involves requirements for all employees to have at least two training courses and for all their technicians to be Master Certified Mechanics, and they have been offering teaching clinics to clients to further educate them in light maintenance and emergency repairs. This is a commitment to teaching customers how to properly use their new equipment. "We don’t just sell bikes," says Rick Snyder. "We teach our customers how to ride and maintain them for a lifetime of service and pleasure."

For more information on the up-coming Tent Sale or other inquiries, call 852-7100, email at mbs@nb.aibn.com, visit their website at www.mikesbikeshop.ca, or drop by during business hours which are weekdays from 9 am to 9 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm. Inspirational Icons from Father Nicholas and Deaconess Magdalena

One of the most interesting and unusual booths at the Marché Moncton Market is that of Father Nicholas and Deaconess Magdalena. Members of the Orthodox Church in Moncton, their lovely and informative kiosk at the market is an oasis of spiritual calm in the midst of a busy mix of shoppers and vendors on Saturday mornings at the market. Nicholas and Magdalena’s wonderful offerings include lovely handmade religious icons made in the old Russian style depicting various saints and scenes from the life of Christ. There are also beautiful prayer cards with inspirational and holy verses, religious books, and a selection of hand beaded jewellery items with interesting renditions of the cross. Faithful naturalists who also raise their own sheep, Nicholas and Magdalena also sell skeins of homespun wool that are beautiful, soft, and delightful to work with.

Deeply devoted to their faith, Nicholas and Magdalena are great ambassadors for the Orthodox Church, which, as the oldest church in Christendom, has an unbroken continuity from the time of Christ and his apostles. With an estimated 225 million devotees worldwide, the Orthodox Church is still, however, in its infancy in North America. Nicholas and Magdalena bring their simple message of faith and inspiration to the market weekly and their offerings are sure to be great gift ideas for family and friends or personal items of faith for ourselves. For more information on the Orthodox Church or on any items for sale at their kiosk at the market, call (506) 785-4616, or email at philosdav@yahoo.ca and discover a different vision of Christ at the marketplace!
